How does a remote platform that supports clinical examination perform in everyday medical work?

Physician’s Observations on the Omply Remote Examination Platform
I tested Omply’s remote examination platform with the aim to evaluate how it performs in real clinical use, beyond basic video-based care. Overall, the platform proved to be technically and functionally mature.
The physician interface was clear and calm, and the patient was able to use the examination devices without lengthy or complex instructions. The appointment progressed naturally and the examinations were initiated smoothly without constant attention being drawn to the technology itself.
Vital parameters, including heart rate, SpO₂, blood pressure and temperature, were measured once during the remote appointment and were thereafter available to support clinical decision-making. Although these are one-time measurements, they provide essential clinical relevance compared to appointments where no physiological data are available at all during the visit.
Cardiac and pulmonary sounds auscultated via the stethoscope were, for the most part, clearly distinguishable. Initial background noise on the patient’s side reduced audio quality, but moving to a quieter environment significantly improved auscultation. Occasional minor connection interruptions were noted, which should be acknowledged as a limitation of remote auscultation. Despite this, the sound quality and the information obtained were clinically usable and supported the overall examination of the patient’s condition.
The otoscope was particularly convincing. The tympanic membrane and ear canal were visualized accurately and steadily. The patient had clearly practiced using the device beforehand, which was evident in proper positioning and successful performance of the Valsalva Maneuver. This improved the reliability of the examination and made the otoscopic examination smooth and informative.
Examination of the oral cavity and pharynx using the camera functioned well from a technical standpoint. Lighting and focus provided a clear overall view of the structures without requiring the patient to make continuous adjustments to camera positioning.
Overall, Omply functions well as a clinical work platform, and I can see myself as one of its users.
